Aslı Özarslan

Aslı Özarslan, born 19.07.1986 in Berlin, studied theater and media at the University of Bayreuth from 2007-2011 and philosophy and sociology at the Université Sorbonne IV in Paris. This was followed by editorial works for 3sat Kulturzeit, ZDF, ARD foreign studio Warsaw. She attended film workshops in Israel and Turkey. From 2012-2017 she studied documentary-film-directing at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
Her films INSEL 36 (2014) and her diploma film DIL LEYLA (2017) won numerous national and international awards.
In 2014 followed the Deutschlandstipendium, in 2015 the scholarship of the Academy of Arts in the section Film and Media Arts and in 2017 the scholarship of the Cultural Academy Tarabya in Istanbul. In 2023 she was invited by NETFLIX for a Talent Workshop in Prague.
With her current debut film project ELLBOGEN she was part of the Torino Film Lab and the mentoring program Into The Wild.

Ihre Filme INSEL 36 (2014) und ihr Diplomfilm DIL LEYLA (2017) gewannen zahlreiche nationale und internationale Auszeichnungen.
2014 folgte das Deutschlandstipendium, 2015 das Stipendium der Akademie der Künste in der Sektion Film- und Medienkunst und 2017 das Stipendium der Kulturakademie Tarabya in Istanbul. 2023 wurde sie von NETFLIX für ein Talent Workshop in Prag eingeladen.
Mit ihrem aktuellen Debütfilmprojekt ELLBOGEN war sie Teil des Torino Film Labs und dem Mentoring Programm Into The Wild.
